Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts (GSEMA), one of the leading Girl Scout councils in the United States and part of an energizing national and global Scouting community, seeks a Chief Advancement Officer (CAO) to lead its fundraising and philanthropic efforts.

The CAO is a key member of the council’s executive team and provides fundraising leadership and expertise to a council of more than 41,000 members – 26,000 girls and 15,000 volunteers. Working with an expert CEO, a dedicated Board of Directors and Fund Development Committee, and talented staff colleagues, the CAO will shape goals and strategies that enable the council both to sustain its financial health and to fuel its mission aspirations. This leader joins an energetic group of donors, funders, volunteers, and community members committed to strengthening support for girls, and will be able to build on established programs while developing new approaches for the future.
GSEMA innovated in the face of considerable challenges and opportunities in 2020 and 2021 in order to continue to serve and engage girls. On firm financial footing, GSEMA’s new and adapted programs became national models and energized funders and partners. Opportunities exist, however, to strengthen individual and planned giving, to strengthen stewardship and donor engagement, and to broaden the base of donor support. With a few exciting community milestones on the horizon, the CAO will need to assess strengths and opportunities and prepare a sustainable multi-year advancement plan. This is an exciting and fulfilling opportunity for a leader to shape a fundraising and philanthropy program and to create significant impact.
